Emissions Trading and Carbon Law
We have a dedicated Emissions Trading and Carbon Law Team which includes experts from various departments of the firm. We are one of only a few firms who can demonstrate genuine experience in this area.
Our cross-departmental team, involving lawyers from our environment, banking and commercial groups, brings together a wide range of skills in environmental law, project development and financing, derivatives and renewable energy. The team has provided emissions trading and carbon law advice to a broad spectrum of clients.
The strength of the team's experience can be gauged from the fact that Government departments and the regulators themselves, as well as a wide spectrum of industrial and other sector clients, see us as the natural choice to advise them on emissions trading and carbon law matters.
We have, for example, acted for DEFRA, advising them on the Government's process for off-setting carbon from ministerial and other department air travel and on the implementation of the Carbon Reduction Commitment, the Government's new mandatory cap-and-trade scheme for non-energy intensive organisations in the public and private sectors.
