Minerals

Our Minerals Unit provides comprehensive advice on all aspects of minerals work which compliments our resource and waste management practice.

Our particular areas of minerals expertise include:

Land Management

Our minerals property team advises both minerals operators and landowners. This includes negotiating options between operators and landowners which allow operators to purchase or lease minerals once planning permissions and other consents are obtained and negotiating exploratory licences to allow operators to search for minerals.

Planning

We advise clients on all aspects of minerals planning permissions and minerals planning rights.

Compulsory Purchase

Our work includes advising the minerals industry on compulsory purchase of reserves, including two instances which have arisen following the re-classification of land under the Habitat Directive.

Environment and Health and Safety

We advise our clients on all aspects of day to day environmental and health and safety regulatory issues related to the working of minerals. We also advise on potential liability issues arising on or after acquisition or disposal of restored sites, due diligence through relevant transactions and negotiation of contractual protections.

Minerals Disputes

Our litigation team advises on all aspects of disputes arising from the working of minerals including those between landowners and operators arising from their lease arrangements and other contractual disputes.
