Our Planning Unit deals with all aspects of planning law and practice and advises clients on planning issues in relation to properties which they are seeking to develop or to acquire. Many members of the unit are former local authority lawyers and they are therefore well versed in matters affecting local government and can advise both public and private sector clients on local authority practice and procedures.
We have particular expertise in:

- Drafting and negotiating Planning Obligations and other Infrastructure Agreements
- Planning appeals, including appearing as advocates at public inquiry
- Interpretation of planning permissions and advice on safeguarding consents
- Certificates of Lawful Use
- Judicial Review and Statutory Appeals
- Site Assembly including Compulsory Purchase
- Town and Village Green/common land applications
- Highways and Public Rights of Way
- Advice on local authority issues
- CPO compensation including Land Tribunal references
Members of the Planning team also work extensively with colleagues from across the firm as part of our Energy and Utilities sector group.
