Environmental policy

We are committed to reducing the impact of our activities on the environment. We recognise that our impact on the environment results principally from the following activities:

  • procurement and use of manufactured and natural resources
  • waste generation
  • energy use through travel

Our environmental policy details how we aim to achieve our commitment.

As founding members of the Legal Sector Alliance we will measure and reduce our carbon footprint.

Our principal office is one of the most modern buildings in central Bristol. It is also one of the city’s most environmentally-friendly buildings thanks to the Carbon Trust, which advised us on environmental performance during the design development phase of the project. This resulted in One Glass Wharf being awarded a BREEAM Excellent rating for its energy consumption.

Our premises incorporate some of the most environmentally friendly technologies and approaches available including:

  • air conditioning with remote energy saving sensors
  • building with environmentally friendly materials
  • cooling using harbour water
  • energy efficient heating
  • increased fresh air ventilation
  • maximising day light
  • rainwater recycling
  • recycling facilities

In 2011 the firm received a 'Carbon Champion' award for achieving a 10% reduction in energy consumption during 2009-10. The awards were made by Forum for the Future, as part of the West of England Carbon Challenge.
